Comments on: finding the perfect Virtual Private Server (VPS)

What are the specs of the VPS or Semi-dedicated package that you are referring to? I’m not a big fan of Windows servers because I’m do most of my work in LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) environments.

Seeing how you are an expert on this matter, I'd like to ask you for your help. I've found a Windows dedicated server offer and I'm not really sure if it meets most of the points you mentioned in this article. If you have a few minutes to take a look and give me an answer, I will be eternally grateful.

Just wanted to add something – Xen/OpenVZ/KVM/Virtuozzo/… are virtualization technologies – they are the back-end that handles the running of the virtual machines.

HyperVM/SolusVM/Panenthe/vePortal/… are virtualization control panels – they provide a shiny front-end for the virtualization technology that allows you, the end-user, to startup/shutdown/etc your virtual machine. HyperVM interfaces with either OpenVZ or Xen. It is not a virtualization solution by itself.

For the most part, price and speed were the two limiting factors for me.
but for sure I will post a more thorough review of each host.

Great to hear you've got everything working on your VPS Frank – Up and running for under $20! I'd be interested in a post about competitors you evaluated and why you chose ramhost.us over them. Also, it would be interest to read a post on the challenges you encountered, such as installing features and security we take for granted on shared hosting. Congrats bro.
